Custom Artistic Steel Staircase with Artistic Finish

A suspended sculpture between history,
matter, light, and the sea.

This staircase was conceived as a unique work, designed to dialogue with the boutique and the memory of the historic tuna fisheries.
Each suspended step emerges from the wall like a rock sculpted by time, evoking the natural rhythm of the coastline and the allure of places where the sea meets stone.

PROJECT

The project integrates water as a vital element: a reflecting pool extends from the first step, mirroring its form, visually prolonging the gesture of the step, and creating a continuum between solid matter and liquid surface.
Within the water, angular cubes echo the geometry of the steps, creating a play of reflections that multiplies spatial perception and connects the staircase to the marine element.

MATERIALS

The staircase is custom-made in steel, with suspended steps, treated with artistic paint techniques and copper and Corten surface oxidations, evoking the patina of time, warm nuances, and material textures of historic tuna fisheries.
In continuity with the geometry of the steps, the ceiling above the staircase hosts illuminated angular cubes, inspired by the main constellations used by fishermen to navigate at sea.
The gentle light creates a dialogue between sky, water, and matter, evoking ancient navigation and the harmony between nature and design.

DETAILS

Every element is the result of craftsmanship and design research, where the study of the material and the chemical-physical properties of iron conveys emotion and memory, transforming the staircase into a sensory and poetic experience, blending movement, light, reflections, and historical reference.

The result is a staircase that unites architecture, design, history, and the sea, where form, matter, light, and water merge to turn the passage between levels into a sensory and emotional journey, combining memory, beauty, and contemporary creativity.
